BOLT ON aftermarket header/exhaust

I'm looking for a bolt on header with exhaust. Period. No welding, no modifying. Is there a company out that that has something that just simply bolts to either factory or aftermarket exhaust?!

Why does everything advertised state "some welding required" ??

This is for an 8v 1995 Geo tracker

Wandering Steering

Hoping to get some ideas on my handling issues. Since I've owned my Tracker, it has been a handful on any road that is not perfectly flat. Any bump or dip causes the car to dart to the left or right. In testing the steering, I do not notice any significant play when parked.

My truck has only 65k miles on the chassis, but an unknown additional toad miles (which may very well be a contributing factor).

I'm running 235/75R15's (Cooper AT's) on factory 9-hole steel rims. I have a 3" spring lift with brand new shocks and HD springs. Also running camber correction bolts in the front.

Lowering the tire pressure to 25psi helped some, but it is still a handful on the road keeping straight. I've ordered a steering brace and damper, but I'm holding off installing it until I can solve this issue -- I certainly don't want to mask the problem.

Any ideas? I know these things are a bit white knuckle in a crosswind, but I hope I should be able to drive comfortably in a straight line!

Engine RPM's dipping and stalling

A new issue has cropped up.

At times when coming to a stop (i.e. clutching to roll to a stop) the engine idles down to less than 500 rpm and sometimes sputters out. This has been happening more frequently and typically is only an issue when the engine is relatively cold.

FYI, the engine has 65K miles and has new plugs, wires, distributor cap/button, timing belt, etc.

It almost seems vacuum related as it seems to idle lower when I'm on the breaks as it warms up (i.e. coming to a stop). No issues when running with the A/C on with the idle bump.

Any ideas?

Bugdewde in East Tennessee

Bugdewde is "Bug Dude" spelled with my initials D.E.W.
Yes, I am, first and foremost, an aircooled VW fan.

I just bought a 4x4 Tracker this weekend.
1996 2 door convertible (with aftermarket hard top)
1.6L 16-valve
Manual trans
Manual locking hubs
A/C
Rear Window Defrost
2" spring spacer lift with 235/75-15s on stock steel wheels.
152k miles (previous owner says the timing belt, cover and water pump were recently replaced). Recent new clutch and rebuilt trans ... as stated by previous owner.

Everything on the Tracker seems to work just fine.... with the exception of the C.E.L. (check engine light). When the ignition is turned on, it doesn't illuminate... so it appears to be disabled??????
I drove it about 90 miles home with no issues at all until I got home and noticed gear oil sprayed under the vehicle. Appears to be coming from the Transfer Case just behind the front driveshaft. I'll investigate and post pictures later.

I've noticed a wire or two under hood that are "rigged" up and not all that factory looking so I'll be posting some specific questions as I encounter them.

Some first observations:
#1..... Man, that spare tire carrier is the squeaking-est thing I've ever encountered. Is that common? I have the tire removed now and it doesn't squeak, but if you pull/tug the mount it squeaks... bolts appear to be tight.

#2.... removed all the seats and carpet (for cleaning at car wash) and decided to loose the insulation and keep the snap in carpet. Was gonna leave all the carpet out at first (like my Jeep), but think I'll keep it for now with the damp/stinky insulation removed. Just a tad bit of scale rust bubbles at the seat mount ridge where the carpet/insulation was wet.

#3.... car wash removed the rubberized coating off the floor pans... I scraped most of it off.

#4.... So far, I'm pleased and look forward to getting some good use out of the Tracker as my work car and dog hauler to my girlfriend's apartment (40 miles one way) on the weekends..... and some occasional light 'wheelin.

1998 speedometer

First I would like to say hello to everyone! I just bought a 1998 Chevy Tracker 4d 2wd auto(4 spd), and i really like it, but I have been having some problems with it. The speedometer has an issue where it reads 35-40 MPH at a standstill(turned off or running) and goes up from there. It also bounces constantly while driving. The tach and odometer work fine.

Additionally, my engine is running rough and sometimes dies when I come to a stop. My CEL is either burned out or disconnected(does not light up when I turn the key on), and I have not taken it anywhere to get the(likely) OBD codes read.

Aside from getting the codes read, what would be the best course of action?

From everything I have read on this site(outstanding source of information BTW) my tracker has an electronic VSS(vehicle speed sensor) attached at the transmission, and therefore should not have a mechanical speedo cable, correct? So the bouncing speedo couldn't be a symptom of a cable wearing out right? What would cause the bouncing speedo, and the high reading at a stop? Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Guys

I bought a reverse camera off eBay to fit to my new 2014 FZ swift, on removing the head unit I found the only port left on the rear of the unit is a 5 pin green terminal as can be seen in photo below. Anyone fitted or know how to fit a reverse camera to a Garmin 33920-61M53 head unit?

Hello folks
I have a 2006 liana that was working perfectly until I brought it for an NCT
The problem is when I accelerate the car acts like it misfires this problem is somewhat sporadic and as I said it is only since the NCT.
I am thinking the engine was power washed for the NCT and water is in the electical system .I was thinking of taking off the engine top cover and drying the coils etc .Any advice ??

NEED HELP!!! Here's
The problem,I changed the injector o rings on my 1.6L TBI they were the wrong ones every time I tried to start it the throttle body would just fill up with fuel and drain down to the crank case so I thought that it might need new tune up parts cap rotor plugs plug wires coil.still trying to start it and it would just do the same thing.i finally got the right o rings it started but had a knocking noise and idles up and down and is puking oil out from the rear of the motor like rear main seal area.was wondering if I did any sort of engine damage by allowing the crankcase to sit that long (3 days) with fuelin the bottom end

I had an accident with my GV 2009 which is equipped with 6 aibags esp tcs etc. It is damaged in the front left corner and almost all the left side.
None of the 6 airbags was deployed. Should they?

If finally its decided to repair the GV is there any way to ensure that everything regarding the airbags mechanism works and the fact that they didn't deploy is normal?

Under what circumstances the airbag is activated?

99 Vitara idle cycling high

$

Hi from Chiangmai Thailand

I've had my Vitara for over ten years it's either 99 or 2000 I think the former....been a good car especially for a tall guy.

The weather has been cooler here (that's temperate by your standards).
Anyway last night and today the idle speed has started off high about 2000rpm which is presumably the automatic choke equivalent for fuel injection.
Whats happening is as I continue to drive I have taken foot off throttle and foot on the clutch regularly to check the idle.
After a few minutes of warming up it is cycling.....a second or two at 2000rpm, then like the higher tick over is turning off, but within a second it is revving back up to 2000....another second or two at that speed, then down again, then up again, continual cycling.

I tried turning on the aircon and although it may make the higher tick over last slightly longer it looks like it's nothing to do with the cause.

Thoughts would be kindly appreciated as I don't want to sit in traffic like this!

Help & Advice!?!? 2000 Suzuki Vitara - mods, oil-changes, and tire sizes!?

$

Hey... My Name is Nathan Cowlishaw. I posted this thread in the Pirate4x4 forum but it's not getting any activity over there! I'm new to the Suzuki forums but information and resources is scant on my 2000 Suzuki Vitara. I have the 2.0 Liter Manual Shift 4x4 with about 67,000 thousand miles on the engine and I purchased it with a loan for about $8K because of the low-miles. I purchased the vehicle just a few days ago and the dealership has did an oil change on the vehicle installing 5W-40 Full Synthetic instead of 10W-30 or 5W-30 which is recommended by the user manual for this 2.0 liter engine. So it's got me a little worried. Is the 5W-40 grade okay to put in the rig!?

I need to pay off the loan in about a year before I can start doing something/anything else with this vehicle as a project and I'm going to be taking it on a 12,000 mile road trip with some off-roading involved on some of my journeys around the Desert Southwest of the United States.

Here's my rig:
Instagram

I need to know if the slightly oversized tire size 225/70/r16 will work okay on a 2000 vitara without rubbing or any issues on the stock suspension and if it will give me slightly more clearance as well. Please forgive me. I'm new to this vehicle and once owned a beloved Suzuki Samurai but eventually sold it before getting into a Jeep Cherokee. Now, I'm back and I figured this would be a good road-tripping rig for longer distances...

I also noticed the Calimini 2.5 inch suspension kits that lift the vehicle a bit. Would this be better than the stock suspension!? I'm figuring for now, a slightly over-sized tire and the stock suspension would work just fine for normal offloading...? I'm not planning on doing any rock crawling, etc.

After I get this vehicle paid off, I might be interested in getting a lift and bigger tires but my biggest concern for the time being is if I can put the 225/70/r16 on a 2000 Vitara without an issue or whether I am going to be forced to stick with 235/60/r16!?!?

3L30 high RPM/speed shift points

$

1996 Geo tracker 2 door 4x4 3L30 auto transmission
My transmission started to shift late in both 1-2 and 2-3. From 1-2 it started shifting about 25mph which wasn't too bad but 2-3 shifted at 35mph plus at times I had to back off the throttle. This was with moderate throttle. I thought the easiest thing to try was replace the modulator (purple stripe). After changing it the 1-2 shift seemed somewhat the same but the 2-3 shift point was now 45mph. I put the old one back in but it now shifts 2-3 at 45mph the same as the new modulator.
I've checked for a vacuum leak and found none. I've also checked the shift cable adjustment and it seems good. I disconnected the modulator vacuum and drove the car and it would not shift out of first which indicates the modulator and vacuum circuit is working properly. The weather temperature has no effect. From first shifts in the morning to shifts later after the engine/trans warms up make no difference.
The oil is clean and normal. There is no slippage in the transmission. When it does shift it is firm without any flare. If I recall it started doing it all at once not gradually shifting higher over a period of time.
Any help would be appreciated in where to start looking.

I want to take the lifetime membership BUT....

Fender Trimming

I want to trim my fenders on my 92. I want to do it right though not just go at it with the sawz-all. Anybody have a template or pics of good fender trimming jobs? It's stock right now but I plan on a 2" lift and running 32's. I want to trim as much fender as possible while still able to put flares on. It's off-road only so keeping it street legal isn't a problem..

2002 GV J20A engine: looking for the main relay

G'day All. I have a 2002 GV, type FTB52V, Australian market, right hand steering, J20A engine, 2.0L, 4 cyl., petrol.

Can anyone help me locate the main relay and the fuel pump relay? I don't find the main relay where the workshop manual says it should be--directly above the four relays next to the fuse box, which is by the driver's right knee. I'd also like to identify those four relays (all same, white). I know the top right one is fro the headlights.

I have a couple of photos I will insert when I figure out how to do that.

I have searched the forum and cchecked the most popular threads.

Thanks in advance,
John.
