Hello to all suzuki owners. Im having alot of trouble with my transfer case.at least i think thats the problem. So if i put my transfer case into 2wd it will not move and just makes a grinding sound as i press my throttle. (When in gear) but the t case case does not move to the neutral area. It will stay in the 2wd section.
I can put the selecter in 4 hi . if i do this i have to hold it in pleace until i let off the clutch i also have to hold it in place if i downshift or go up or down a hill.but the thing that is wierd. It will stay in 4 low and it will never pop out of gear . any suggestions is much appriciated.thanks

99 vitara blinking 4wd light, but not pump

Have a 99 vitara 2 door hardtop with 160,000 km. Has 2.0 liter with 5 speed 4wd system is all factory. When i go to engage 4wd with transfer case lever light does not come on right away or does 4wd engage. But if i drive maybe half km or less and push on transfer case lever light will come on and it is in 4wd. If i let go of transfer case lever, light will go out and 4wd disengages ( lever is still in 4wd position ). If i push on it again light comes on and 4wd sytem engages. I may have to do this 3 to 5 times in a row and then it stays on with no pressure on lever, once it stays on without me pushing on lever you can move lever in and out of 4wd and it will engage and disegage fine all day long. If i dont use 4wd for a week or so then this happens again.

I have changed pump behind front bumper with a known good spare and same thing happens. I'm wondering if there is an adjustment on transfer case lever or if the switch on transfer case that sends signal to pump is not bad, but wore out.

Only use vehicle in winter and have had the problem for 2 seasons now, it only gets about 5000 km put on it a year.

Hopefully someone else can shed some light on this.

P0128 Code on '04 GV, 2.5L w/auto

Well, it seems rather innocuous, just a coolant temp sensor, but...the car, a daily driver, will throw this 2-3 times a week, in maybe 25-40 starts. The temp sensor appears to be working normally (I can read temps continuously with a ScanGaugeII), and when it's thrown, it will be on a warm-up with temps ~150F or so, but once warmed up the car stays in the 170-180s (F). Any ideas on this? Instead of taking 2-3 minutes to warm up, it takes 5 or so, but no other codes and the gas mileage seems to be unchanged. TIA...

Ok finally found what was causing the god awful squeaky and clicking noise. It looks like it is a electric module at the end of the blower motor. I unplugged it and problem solved. Not sure what it is. Has a small red plug into it. Any help

I have a 2000 Grand Vitara with a v6 and 5 speed. The shifting is very stiff and when putting into reverse I am getting a grinding of gears. Slave cylinder is up to level with fluid. When letting clutch pedal out to engage trans it is still close to floor board. I have not checked fluid in trans. Is there a grease zerk to grease linkage? I am looking for all ideas and suggestions. Thanks

Is there a fuse between ignition switch and starter solenoid ?

I can jump start directly from battery to solenoid. when I triy to put the 12v from ignition switch(now start button) starter doesn`t run.....

It was working two days ago..... I changed the start button and toggle switches. I tested with a light and there`s current the other side of my push button.... I was wondering if theres a fuse somewhere.. I looked in the book but didn`t see any.....

The engine is running when I jump start it (battery/starter ignition)... I`ll try to bypass it with a long wire form push button directly to the starter ingnition so I`ll see if the problem is between those....

Air Intake

I have a 2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport and trying to put together a short ram intake for it since I cant find one oneline anywhere RRM doesnt sell them anymore, but need certain diameters:

* Throttle Body Outlet Diameters
* The Diameter of the tube the the Mass Air Flow goes into
* Vacuum tube OD

I think this is all the said that i need. If someone can help me with this I would very much appreciate it.

Or if you have a 2009 Suzuki SX4 Air intake and know the Diameters of the tubes, both the main and vacuum it would be good also.

Urgent help needed please steearing problem

I have a XL7 2003, I started to notice that my steering wheel was getting harder and smelled that rubber was burning, so I decided to change the steering rack because it was licking, that did not fixed the problem so I changed the hydraulic pump and the bearing that tightens the belts and changed the belt itself, still the problem continues but after carful observation I notice the problem was when I turn the AC on almost immediately the steering gets rigid and the burn rubber starts and we notice the reason for the smell is because when AC and only when AC is on the belt start rubbing really hard with the damper and if AC if turned of the problem stop. At the AC shop they told me they don’t see anything wrong with the AC compressor but all indicated this is was causing the problem and I should replace it but since they did not notice nothing wrong with the old compressor there is guarantee this will fix the problem but basically is the only thing I haven’t change yet.
Has anyone had this problem??:confused::confused:

1.6 8V Build & Cam Suggestions

Working on a new motor for my 89 Sidekick. Head work so far, have removed the brass tubes in the intake runner and machined aluminum plugs, ported and gasket matched the intake side, will be gasket matching the exhaust side. It will have all new valves & rockers. Opened up the intake manifold under the throttle body and the runners, cleaned out all the casting flash.

I have a set of Keith Black 020 over 10.5 to 1 pistons to help with altitude sickness since I live at 5000' and wheel up to 8000' regularly.

Wondering about a cam, RPMs are in the 2000 to 4500 range, normally. 60 MPH. cruise on 31" tires is 3000 RPM. I don't think I have ever pushed much past 5000. Just seems to like the lower RPMs.

Thinking about a torquer cam over a stock cam. Any thoughts on who's cam? Strange that most cam sellers don't list the cam specs, makes it hard to compare one to another. Want to stay with stock lifters and springs.

My alarm wont turn off...

Hello there! (I'm a Newbie).

I have a 2012 sx4 Crossover and my alarm won't turn off. I.e.: When on the road, come to a full stop I open the door (cars on) and the alarm goes on. I've tried the reset button, keyless fob (keyless remote control) lock all the door's with me inside and nothing seems to work. Once I get started on the road again, it turns off. But the process repeats itself again once I come to a full stop and open the door.

Any good word of advice. Mostly appreciated.

Thanks,

buying a sidekick (my first car)

so ive been saving money for my first car, almost have enough and im leaning the most towards getting a 4 door sidekick 4wd. I dont know anything about cars other then how to change a tire. But want something reliable I could take out hiking/camping.

alot of the sidekicks im seeing for sale in my price range have high miles on them. so wondering how much this is a factor, should I not buy one with to high of mileage? I wouldnt mind investing around $1000-$2000 at some point after the first 4-6 months of owning it, but want it to last for the next 4-6 years.

say if i buy a sidekick with 200,000-250,000 miles on it, what can I do to get the most out of it and keep it running for the next 5 years?

noob post i know, just comment/give tips here.

edit: amount of miles id drive is probably that of basic commuting purposes + the occasional trip into the mountains.

Replace or Rebuild engine?

$

I am going to pick up a 2007 aerio tonight for free from a friend. He doesn't know anything about cars, but said that his wife ran it out of oil and the engine is bad.

Is it more worth while to get a replacement engine or just rebuild the current one? i do not know the state of the current engine. i just want to start planning a budget.

i noticed that these engines suffer from burning/losing oil, so i dont know if getting one from a salvage yard would be beneficial... these 2.3L engines are also a little hard to find where i live.

my skills are not an issue

thanks!
