My daughter drove to a restaurant and parked. When she tried to start the car, it wouldn't turn over; NO sounds from the starter. The Tracker was previously running just fine; no overheating, plenty of fresh oil etc...so no "reason" for the engine to be seized. Car has auto tranny, A/C, 4WD. The interior lights and ignition warning beep were working so it has battery power (pulled and checked OK at auto parts store, as well). I could hear a relay (under the dash ?) click when I turned the key but the starter wouldn't turn; no clicking or anything, no sound whatsoever. I pulled the starter and had it tested, it tested good. I replaced the terminals and cleaned off the connectors on the solenoid. When I replaced everything the starter now makes a distinct click (hammer sound) as if the starter gear is trying to engage but doesn't have enough juice to crank the engine. Also, it won't engage when I jump the circuit on the solenoid with a screwdriver. I'm stumped!@#$ Could the battery or starter test good but still be bad? Could the engine run TOTALLY NORMAL and then just seize while parked? I'm going to replace the starter with a new one to eliminate that possibility. Any ideas?

Suzuki Liana loss of power when warm
Happy New Year Everyone! So the problem Im having in my 2002 Liana is that the power will drop out when driving, and as quick as it happens it will disappear when a sudden jolt of energy! When the EML light came on, it read the o2 sensor was faulty so my mechanic changed it, but the problem is still there.
The car drives normally first thing in the morning but after a couple of miles will drop back into fault mode BUT NO Engine Management Light comes on. You could put you foot to the floor and get 30mph, the car will drive like its stuck in 2nd gear, but as if your driving 30mph in 5th gear, as in its close to stalling, shaking, exhaust is rattling like mad.
Any ideas ? I few suggestions to me have been the coils, Crank Shaft Sensor, Crank Angle Sensor.
Many Thanks,

Heater blows cold air when idle
Hi, first post here but i have an odd question. I have a 2007 Grand Vitara 2.7L 4X4 and when I am idling at a red light/stop sign the heater will start to blow cool air. Same thing happens when i warm the car in the morning, defrost wont get warm to help get rid of the frost and the heat wont come on either. Ive done this on cold starts and at full operating temp. No hot air unless im driving.
Ive searched around and ive seen simple fixes from fuse pulls and t-stat replacing, to more severe problems like blown head gasket and clogged heater core. Ive also read something about air door cables? Never heard of those before. Im usually pretty handy with mechanical issues but electrical things piss me off:mad:
Can someone help me out or point me in the right direction? Might need to break it down for me. Thanks in advance everyone, hope yall had a good new year.

Radio replacement problems
Hello, I am the owner of a Suzuki 2000 Grand Vitara V6 4WD that I brought used (in Canada).
The original radio was an old radio with a cassette player that I replaced to a newer radio with a jack auxiliary (100mA, 12V max). Problem is that the new radio takes too much voltage/amperage so it blow the fuse, on which circuit are also connected the dash lights and other things that don't work anymore when the radio is plugged in.
So my question is: Is there anyway to make my new radio work OR Is there any radio with a jack (or Bluetooth) that could fit the electrical requirement of my car?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Chatter in 5th gear.... only. Any transmission gurus out there?
Well, after getting the new-to-me Tracker home (about 90 mile drive), I noticed some chatter in 5th gear..... all the time when driving. No other noise in the other gears... only 5th.
Seeing gear oil under the vehicle, I assumed the front output seal on the transfer case was bad (see my first post). Turns out (thanks to you guys on the forum), it was only the top rubber plug next to the back-up switch had backed out and was leaking gear oil all down the trans.
I re-filled the trans with GL-4.... took almost 2/3 quart. I was somewhat confident that that would quieten down the chatter.
Sadly, it didn't.
Previous owner said the trans was rebuilt, due to the pilot bearing going bad at some point. I've read on the forums that causes the input shaft bearings to go bad under torque/load.
Since mine only does it in 5th, wouldn't that be a completely different issue?
I've only been inside a manual trans once before (old chevy vega... many years ago) so I am very challenged when it comes to transmissions.
- Any ideas on what the problem is? .....
- If trans was rebuilt (according to previous owner), what are the chances of not having to buy a complete rebuild kit? ......
- Are 5th gear ONLY rebuild kits available?.....
sorry for the newbie questions... I'm not well versed in transmissions.

Power steering pump / rack question
My 2007 xl7 vs developed a hard steering effort / whining ps pump noise back in June, at 101k mile. It was replaced by the dealer under an extended warranty I have.
In November at 104k the same condition arose. The dealer found metallic filing in the fluid and concluded the pump and rack needed to be replaced - it was leaking at the high pressure hose inlet.
I should mention that before the pump was replaced the second time there was a loud pop noise that happened on one tight turn - sound like something let go in the steering system.
The extended warranty company inspected the car - concluded only the pump should be replaced (they did cover new hoses and reservoir).
Now 6 weeks later the steering is getting very heavy again (although no whining noise yet) - especially when the car is warmed up.
I plan to go back to the dealer.
I am wondering if a bad rack can cause a pump to fail (i.e. over pressure if the rack circuit is plugged)?
Any suggestions on how I should communicate with the dealer and extended warranty company?

2002 Chevy Tracker Auto Trans Issues
Hi folks,
joined the forums a few years ago; I have a few Suzuki's and several vehicles.
'87 Samurai (2 dr hardtop 5spd 4wd) (build in progress)
'92 Tracker (2 dr softtop 5spd 4wd) (semi retired)
'94 Tracker (2 dr softtop auto 4wd) (parts rigs)
'00 Tracker (4 dr auto 4wd) (scraped and gone)
'02 Tracker (4 dr auto 4wd) (current plow/semi daily driver)
My 2002 Tracker (2.0L auto 4wd) is causing me a few problems but this evening while out plowing, the transmission had enough.
I bought this rig of my buddy's father in law last year and has been issue after issue.
Its has 155,000 kms on the motor and 305,000 kms on everything else.
We had our first real snow for the year and my '02 is now my plow rig/daily driver as I retired my '92 after 4 years of plowing.
Here's what is happening, all I have is forward gears.
Park - forward
Reverse - forward
Neutral - forward
Drive - forward
2 - forward
L - forward
Luckily I was on the road and stop to check another driveway and that was it.
So I made it home.
I'm not totally sure of the past maintenance on the vehicle.
Any one have any ideas?
Could it be shift linkage? or a cable? or a solenoid? or clutches in the trans melted together?
Next question, I have a trans and transfer case from a '00 tracker, does anyone know if I could just swamp that trans in (roughly 178,000 kms)?
Any input or suggestion will be welcome.
Sorry for the long post btw hahaha
Thanks,
Mark

Starting Problems
My sidekick has one of those trans interlocks that not only won't let the starter engage but sometimes when it's cold the stater will work but then no spark? If I push the car in neutral for a few feet then sometimes everything works? I'm at a loss as to what is the problem. I'd sure like to here from someone who has had the same problem and or may have a solution?

Engine start not very smooth
Recently I have tried to remote start my Suzuki Grand Vitara, sometimes it went very smooth and occasionally it doesn't start at all after the three attempts from remote start. Tried to go in and start manually using the keyless, still had to push on the gas pedal to get it going....Even though the vehicle was parked at the underground heated parking still have this kind of issue...Checked the Alternator and says it was fine. Any idea or suggestions what could cause this happening? Something related to the fuel injection?
Thanks guys!

2.0 gasoline, manual gearbox, fill plug replacement
Hi All,
I have recently had my old be-loved (2.0 gasoline, manual, 5dr, 2001, Grand Vitara) serviced and I asked garage to swap out gearbox oil.
They failed as they weren't able to get the fill plug out, as it was rounding quite badly.
I've had a play and agree. There's not a lot left to get a purchase on and it's stuck pretty tight.
I'm presuming that I'm going to have to get it drilled out and perhaps also "helicoiled".
Have any of you developed a solution to this issue that didn't involve dropping the gearbox so that you could get the drill in?
All advice/comments gratefully received.
Cheers,
Brian

96 Geo tracker top
Do some Geo Trackers require a two piece top? I own two '96 Geo Trackers. One has a shot engine. I just purchased the running one about a month ago and the top was held on with zip ties. It never fit right. I wanted to transfer the top from the shot engine to the running tracker but it won't fit. I noticed the running tracker has some differences in the frame that holds the top. It has these window pieces.
I guess my question is: do some require a 2 piece top. How can I know what kind of top to get for my Tracker.

LED Headlight bulbs
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with LED replacement bulbs for your headlights, either H7 Lows, 9005 Highs, or H11 fog? Either just the bulb or a LED kit?
I was considering upgrading to HID's on my 2010 GV but am a little concerned about HID's as they aren't technically legal in the Province I live in. Chances of my Provincial Police actually stopping me and telling me to remove a HID light is slim, but I've been told that it could happen.
I was checking out the stock LED's that came on my friends 2014 Toyota Corolla and they seemed really nice, so I'm thinking of putting something similar in my GV.
Has anyone here used them? Any recommendations on what brand? Can I just do a bulb replacement only or do I need a kit?
Any help would be great!
Cheers
